David Moyes: Former Manchester United and Everton boss’ odds slashed to become new Scotland manager

The odds on David Moyes becoming the new Scotland manager have been slashed to 11/10.

The former Man United and Everton boss was priced at 3/1 on Oddschecker, but they were shortened after a flurry of bets were placed on him to succeed Alex McCleish on Friday morning.

Scotland Under-21s coach Scot Gemmill is the second favourite on 11/8, while Kilmarnock boss Steve Clarke is the third-best bet at 3/1.

John Hill, a spokesman for Coral, explained that Moyes has quickly become the favourite after an influx of money came in for him to land the hot-seat.

He said: “We have been knocked over with interest in David Moyes in the last 24 hours and, as a result, the former Everton and Manchester United manager is now the new favourite to get the job.”

Moyes, who has also managed  Real Sociedad, Sunderland and West Ham, was seen in attendance at several Scottish Premiership matches last weekend.

He watched Celtic’s home win against Kilmarnock, St Johnstone’s draw with St Mirren and Rangers’ victory over Aberdeen.

Moyes has been out of management since he was sacked as manager of the West Ham at the end of last season.

He guided the Hammers to a 13th place finish in the English top-flight.
