Players and staff from both clubs were pepper sprayed by police in an attempt to restore order.

And an official club photographer had to be carried off on a stretcher and rushed to hospital after sustaining injuries.

After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, Atletico Goianiense won the second leg 1-0 thanks to a 76th-minute Jorginho goal.

Atletico Goianiense’s Washington Santana da Silva and Vila Nova’s Philipe Maia received red cards in injury-time.
