The football fan has been described as being aged in his 20s with short, fair hair, wearing a grey jacket and a Rangers scarf.

Aberdeen won the replay 2-0 at Ibrox, leaving the Scottish Premiership as Rangers’ only chance of silverware under Steven Gerrard this season.

They trail leaders Celtic by ten points with eight games to go.

Numerous fans were arrested at the match with thousands of pounds worth of damage being caused to the seats in the away section.

Aberdeen insisted Rangers would be billed for the repairs.

Match commander Superintendent Richard Craig said: “I would like to thank the vast majority of supporters from both clubs who heeded our advice and behaved responsibly today.

“Disruptive behaviour in and around football matches in Scotland will not be tolerated and those who choose to conduct themselves in such a way will be firmly dealt with.”
