Arsenal and Manchester United both suffered woeful results over the weekend to leave their Champions League hopes in tatters.
United’s draw with already-relegated Huddersfield ended their top four aspirations.
Meanwhile, the Gunners now need an almost-impossible scenario on the final day of the season to finish fourth after being held by Brighton.
Arsenal are at Burnley and United host Cardiff next Sunday with the Gunners a point ahead of the Red Devils and with a superior goal difference.
While both sides will be eager to see the back of this league season, they will need one final push on the last day to avoid finishing sixth and a potential nightmare start to next term.

Arsenal vs Man United battle to avoid sixth
If Arsenal do not win the Europa League this season, the team that finishes sixth face a very early start to the new term.
The Premier League’s sixth-placed team will enter Europe’s secondary competition in the second qualifying round on July 25.
In contrast, the fifth-placed team will go straight into the group stages and their European campaign will begin on September 19.
If Arsenal win the Europa League later this month, they will gain qualification to the Champions League.
Should the Gunners do so and United finish sixth, the Red Devils will not be bumped up to the group stages of the Europa League.
What about the FA Cup winners?
Arsenal and United will both be hoping Manchester City can win the FA Cup.
City face Watford at Wembley on May 18 with the winner gaining automatic qualification to the Europa League group stages.
As City are already assured of Champions League football, their berth, should they win the cup, would go to whoever finishes seventh in the Premier League – either Wolves or Leicester – and their season would start early.
But if Watford win, sixth will get it and have to go through the qualifiers.
Both Arsenal and United have got big plans for pre-season tours in late July and the Europa League could scupper them.
