Liverpool’s talismanic centre-back Virgil van Dijk was booed by England fans during their UEFA Nations League semi-final against the Netherlands on Thursday night.
The Dutch defender came in for stick from the Three Lions’ support, seemingly for no other reason than the fact he plays for Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp’s men came up just short in the Premier League title race this season, being pipped to the post by Manchester City.
However, Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-0 on Saturday to win the Champions League and so have ended 2018/19 on a high.
As a result, the sound of rival fans booing one of their star men far from infuriated the Reds fans, and instead gave them a chance to boast on social media.
