Stoke and Ireland footballer James McClean has posted an picture on social media of an abusive birthday card he was sent which told him to die.
The 30-year-old has long been the subject of abuse given his refusal to wear a poppy on his shirt around Remembrance Sunday.
Last year he was victimised by his own supporters at Stoke over his decision, and McClean branded his critics ‘uneducated cavemen’ in an emotional social media post.
The winger was warned by the Football Association for using an offensive word in his Instagram post, and he went on to accuse English football’s governing body of anti-Irish bias.
