Laurence Bassini has told talkSPORT he has assumed control of Bolton Wanderers, despite the club saying his takeover deal is off.
The businessman has also accused current chairman Ken Anderson of telling ‘lies’ about the deal, and assured staff and supporters he has the funds to save the in-crisis club.
After several weeks of discussions, Bolton announced on Thursday night that the proposed sale to Bassini would not go through, after he failed to provide proof of funds to the EFL.
However, Bassini insisted on Friday morning he has a ‘watertight contract’ which proves he now owns Bolton and is working to get the deal ratified by the EFL.
He joined talkSPORT host Jim White on Friday morning to clear up the confusion surrounding his takeover.
And he sensationally accused Anderson – despised by supporters for his mismanagement of their club – of lying to try and get more money for his shares.

“I had to do that today because of all the lies he [Anderson] is telling,†Bassini said about his statement.
“If I let him continue the way he is, he’s running everything into the ground, don’t you understand?
“Nothing is getting paid. He doesn’t care about this club. He’s trying to find someone else so he can get more money.â€
On Friday morning, Bassini said he has ‘instructed staff not to make any further statements’, after the club announced that the takeover was off.
“That’s not correct, that’s absolutely not correct,” he explained.
“All the heads of department have now seen the proof of funds and they’ve also seen the contract that gives me control of the company.
“I have also, because of his behaviour yesterday, served a ‘specific performance’ notice on Ken Anderson, which means he has to give up the share certificates to the company.
“I will deal with the EFL, I’ll sort that out.
“I don’t know what goes on at the EFL. They should have stepped in a long time ago to deal with these poor people up there, these people that are working up there are terrified, all of them. A lot of them phone me, crying, that they’re not getting paid.
“Today, what I’m saying is, I’m sorting out the mess that’s there at the moment. Nobody knows what they’re doing, everything is a mess and everybody’s worried.â€

This is another twist in a tumultuous time for the cash-strapped Trotters, who have already been relegated to League One.
Having failed to be paid their wages, the playing squad went on strike last week and forced the Championship clash with Brentford to be postponed.
Following talks with the EFL, the players have made themselves available for Sunday’s match with Nottingham Forest.
The game against Brentford has also been rearranged for next Tuesday, two days after the regular Championship season ends.
However, in the event of the club entering administration they will not have to fulfil their final fixture.
