Harry Redknapp has suggested the Chelsea job may be too big for nephew Frank Lampard to take on so early in his career.
The Blues legend has been linked with a shock return to take over at Stamford Bridge just one season into his first managerial post at Derby County.
With Maurizio Sarri strongly linked with an exit – reports claiming he has agreed a deal to take over at Juventus – Lampard is currently one of the top favourites to succeed him.
The former England midfielder enjoyed a successful first campaign in the dugout, taking Derby to the verge of promotion to the Premier League as they were beaten in the Championship play-off final by Aston Villa.
Publicly Lampard and Derby owner Mel Morris have poured cold water on the Chelsea reports – Sarri is still in charge there after all and, after steering the Blues to Europa League victory, there is still every chance he will remain in charge in west London.

Asked for his take on the reports surrounding his nephew, Redknapp told talkSPORT: “If Sarri goes I think Frank would be one of the favourites.
“Well, he is the favourite, if you look the bookmakers they’ve closed the book on it. He’s a massive odds-on favourite.
“But it’s a difficult one for him. He’s at a good club, Derby is a great club.
“He’s had one year there and he’s got a good relationship with the chairman, so it would be difficult to leave.
“But if the Chelsea job comes up, will he turn it down? It won’t be easy for him.”
Uncle ‘Arry gave a young Frank his first taste of senior football when he was in charge of West Ham in the 90’s.
He left Upton Park to join Chelsea in 2001 shortly after his uncle and father also left the club, and he never looked back at Stamford Bridge – becoming the club’s all-time record goalscorer and one of the best players in their history.
But Redknapp hinted that the Blues job may just be a little too big for the young manager right now.
