Liverpool vs Barcelona: Confirmed teams for Champions League semi-final with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino ruled out

Liverpool will have to try and overturn a three-goal deficit without Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino when they face Barcelona in the second-leg of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday night.

Salah, the Premier League’s top goalscorer, suffered concussion against Newcastle on the weekend while Firmino is still suffering from a muscle tear.

Origi and Shaqiri start

Instead, Jurgen Klopp has named Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi alongside Sadio Mane up front, with 19-year-olds Rhian Brewster and Ben Woodburn on the bench.

There were fears new PFA Player of the Year Virgil van Dijk would miss out after the Dutchman was absent from training on Monday – but the defender starts next to Joel Matip.

In midfielder, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and James Milner get the nod with Georginio Wijnaldum on the bench.

Barcelona have named their strongest XI to avoid any potential slip up following their 3-0 first leg victory, with Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho returning to Anfield for the first time since leaving.

Suarez could be in for a hostile reception after wildly celebrating his opener at the Nou Camp last week, although he has promised not to celebrate if he scores tonight.
