Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish should be in contention to receive an England call-up, according to Ray Parlour.
The 23-year-old has won seven Under-21 caps since switching allegiance from the Republic of Ireland in 2015.
Grealish is one of the Championship’s stand-out performers and was a summer target for Tottenham, but the life-long Villa fan remained with his boyhood club.
It means he has not played top flight football since they were relegated back in 2016.
However, talkSPORT co-host Parlour believes the youngster has shown enough potential to date to get the nod by Gareth Southgate in the near future.
When asked by Adrian Durham on Matchday Live about Grealish’s international prospects, Parlour said: “Yeah, absolutely. Why not?
“He’s exciting when he gets on the ball and he seems to have sorted his off-the-field problems out as well.
“He did brilliantly to compose himself the way he did when that fan attacked him – a lot of players would have reacted angrily.
“He got on with it and scored the winning goal in the end. He’s been a major plus for Aston Villa and a huge reason why there in such good form at the minute [won their last five games].
“Jack Grealish could be the difference between Aston Villa getting promoted to the Premier League or not.”
While Southgate suggested only last week that Grealish would need to be plying his trade in the top flight to be considered for international recognition, Parlour believes his opportunity could come sooner rather than later.

He added: “I think Gareth Southgate is picking players on form. He doesn’t look at their reputation or who they’re playing for.
“If you’re playing well and he likes what he sees then I think you’ll get an opportunity. Grealish has to be right up there in his thinking now.
“[James] Ward-Prowse has got one and obviously Southampton have been struggling a bit this season.
“If you’re playing well as an Englishman then you deserve a chance.”
