David Moyes admits he would prefer return to club management amid links with Celtic and Scotland jobs

David Moyes has told talkSPORT he would favour a return to club football over an international job, amid links with the managerial roles at Scotland and Celtic.

The former Manchester United and Everton boss has been out of work since he left West Ham at the end of last season.

The 57-year-old is currently the favourite to succeed Alex McLeish as manager of the Scotland national team, after he was spotted in the stands at three different Scottish Premiership games over the weekend.

But the Glaswegian and ex-Celtic player is also the second favourite to take over at Parkhead, behind caretaker boss Neil Lennon.

And while Moyes admitted he has ‘itchy feet’ and would be open to his first foray into international management, he said the day-to-day operations of a club is more to his liking.

“I’ve always had itchy feet,” the Scot said on Thursday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.

“I prefer the day-to-day but can I see myself being a national manager? Of course.

“Scotland is not an easy job and it hasn’t been an easy job for whoever has been in charge for quite a while now.

“But at the moment my first choice would be to go back into club management.

“I think I’d be open to whatever’s right [England or Scotland]. The best league to manage in is the English Premier League.

“I played for Celtic.

“But I’ve got to say, if I got a chance to go back and work in Spain again or a chance to work in Germany or Italy I would take those opportunities as well.”
