Liverpool’s winner against Tottenham Hotspur was met with sheer joy and elation from those in red on Merseyside.

However, there were large numbers of supporters who were left confused and questioned if Mohamed Salah was offside or not.

The ‘Egyptian King’ may be on the longest goalscoring drought of his Liverpool career, but played a huge part in keeping their title hopes alive in a last-gasp 2-1 win over Tottenham.

It appeared Jurgen Klopp’s side were about to hand the initiative to Manchester City after Lucas Moura cancelled out Roberto Firmino’s first-half header, leaving the Reds level on 77 points but significantly behind on goal difference.

However, Salah – now eight matches without finding the net – popped up at the far post to head goalwards; Hugo Lloris could only palm out weakly and Toby Alderweireld got himself in an horrendous mess to divert it back past his goalkeeper in the 90th minute.

But, as Trent Alexander-Arnold floated his cross into the back stick, the 26-year-old was afforded so much time and space that fans were questioning if the goal should have stood or not.

Thanks to replays, the confusion can be easily alleviated as it is clear the former Chelsea winger was clearly ONSIDE when the ball was played before meeting the ball with his head.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have, at times this season, appeared to ride their luck with decisions by officials.

Salah himself was widely condemned by fans on social media for appearing to go to ground too easily against Newcastle United at home.

And then, against West Ham United, James Milner was clearly offside in the build-up to the Reds’ opener at London Stadium.

But Liverpool fans will argue Harry Kane played a moving ball in the build up to the equaliser on Sunday, levelling out the decision somewhat.

Regardless of who takes the title this season, there are sure to be plenty more twists and turns.
